This year Cooper and I will be running the Vermont City Marathon. On May 29th 2017 we will take on the hills of Burlington VT for a very special organization. We will be supporting the Wing On Wo project. Located in one of Chinatown longest existing family own businesses, Wing On Wo has a truly inspiring significance in New York’s cultural history. As we see generations of Chinese American grow up in Chinatown, many go off to school, get jobs and most move out of the neighborhood. Very few opt to continue family businesses that represent the fabric of Chinatown’s mom and pop shops. The story of Wing On Wo and it’s current turning point in the Lum family legacy, positions itself as the moderator of creativity, innovation and dialog within an ever changing community.
We are really proud to support the W.O.W project in collaboration with CYNONYC. Together we share the importance of cultural identity of Chinatown. We look forward to sharing more stories and experiences pertaining to the past, present and future of Chinatown and we are excited to see how the questions we pose today can lead to creating conversations that inspire a community.
