In the last decade there has been a growing concern for the safety of athletes that participate in relatively unprotected contact sports such as soccer. The debate continues as the industry constantly learn about the products performance and whether the had been an adverse effect on the game. Ongoing research and statistics will give the general public a clearer picture on the products scientific claims, but skeptics explain that there needs to be more examination on the sports safety reputation, that might strike the fear in parents giving them a heighten dangerous perception of soccer, along with a phenomenon know as “superman effect” to which player might display reckless aggression.
Whether this type of product helps or hurts the sport, we can all learn a lesson from the implementation and enforcement of the shin guard. Perhaps one day this will be another mandatory equipment. Perhaps it will be proven insignificant. Or, perhaps the debate continues, and a it remains a questionable optional accessory. Either way here are some product features of three popular products offered: ForceField, Full 90, and Hat Trick.

A while back we wrote about a convenient white board that took the tradition concept of a pen and clipboard to new heights. The
The Soccer Pal known and recognized by most players and coaches was one of the first soccer training products I’ve ever received as a young player. I remember vividly when my dad came home with the Soccer Pal. It was the new training device that I mostly used for transporting my ball. As a child, I thought it was the coolest thing to just be able to tab and touch the ball with my feet while I walked to school or practice. It made transporting my ball fun and kicking the ball at home just a bit more manageable.
Much like the beautiful sport, in this ever growing society, we find companies that embrace the notion that the whole is better than any individual. In a world where consumer goods flood the market to gain competitive shares, its is important to recognize those that not only display passion for their products, but also commend those that share a social commitment that goes beyond servicing the consumer. These companies have engrained values into their visions and missions to improve trading conditions and promote sustainability to developing countries.
Just recently, I sat down with Managing Director Hans Johan Bos of Sports Structure International. He gave an inside look at their new product line that has swept the nation with it’s innovative approach toward creating a soccer goal. With the technology industry booming, we see product designs that seek new materials and creative engineering, but Han’s special company found a more simple resource when creating their latest soccer goals: Air. Together with a a world class design team, the company was able to incorporate the very thing we breath into a sturdy structural piece of hardware they call the iGoal.
Remember when Osi Shin Guard first exploded onto the Soccer market? There was a sure frenzy around the new futuristic customizable Shin Guard available. At the time, the soccer scene has seen nothing like it and major sporting corporations along with smaller privately own companies were off to the races to make the best custom molded Shin guards. Today, there is a NEW big hitter on the market that not only reinvents the custom molded shin guard but takes it product line beyond soccer and truly has transformed the way we thinking of “Protective Clothing.”
Over last few decades, we have seen some pretty awesome products and some very innovative technology that has truly changed the game as we know it. As technology advances and the level of play raises, competition in and around the game opens new doors to a lot of different markets and new businesses. At the NSCAA Convention I had the great pleasure of catching up with Rick Morales, Inventor and Founder of the HI-Pod, the uniquely robust and dynamic game video capturing system.
